Article for Der Spiegel
During my internship at DER SPIEGEL, I was presented with the opportunity to publish an article about the Benin-Bronzes.
The famous artworks, originating in Nigeria, are often central to debates on colonial heritage, yet their meaning and function are rarely explored. The article examines their origins and craftsmanship while addressing their presence in European collections and current developments around restitution.
To immerse the reader even more into the subject, the article combines a central 3D model with illustrations and accompanying maps, creating a visual narrative that guides the viewer through the history of the Benin Bronzes.
